Copyright Notice

If you ever want a copy any of my photographs/poetry/writing anywhere in my social media to put on your wall or to view outside of this space, in classrooms anywhere, please let me know and I’ll give you an opportunity to purchase it. All funds raised go to supporting my creative work. This applies to all of my work.

To protect copyright I will be endeavoring to put less work out there, lower resolution, watermarks etc. It may seem futile, but it is always good to attribute and respect any work you come across online. I will be working on some poetry/photographic works in the future. And to anyone who hasn’t done this in the past, amnesty, perhaps you didn’t realise this wasn’t a fair thing to do.

Why not pay me something now, or support Magic Fish Dreaming, then I can keep making more work. I love to share work and build an audience and all of that, but sometimes people without thinking just print and share perhaps not realising this is going beyond admiring on a wall.

Hand Series – June Perkins

Art Hand – taken by June Perkins

The poetry of hands that become

the birth place for art

that turn over a new leaf

where finger nails are not adorned but

covered in paint and filled with earth

That hold

feather

tree

henna

leaf

shell

That feel

when the eyes can’t see

here they are softly touching, discovering

showing and giving

gifts of memory.

What would you write for these hands?

Spirit of Plains

Sydney Long, Spirit of the Plains, Queensland Art Gallery

Brolga! Brolga, follow me, dance with me across the plains,
for you are me, and I am you, if only though I had your wings.

Brolga! Brolga, bring your friends; I know you cannot live alone.
Listen, as I play for you, a wetland filling up with food.

Brolga! Brolga, I bless you; may your wetlands always be here.
Let them not be cleared away, let the sedge grow tall and well.

May the people hear our song, then dance with us across the plains.
Brolga! Brolga, I am you, and you are me: let us both grow tall and well.

Unity is Strength

“Unity is strength…when there is team work and collaboration wonderful things can be achieved.”
-Mattie Stepanek

This image is of a ngatu at the beginning of its collaborative journey to have designs placed on it. It will have many people throughout Queensland, Australia contribute their concept of spring time. (Part of the Illumine Mini Festival)

Poetry and Photography Project

My latest project has been to design five a5 poetry postcards featuring my photographs and words. The plan is to sell these at poetry readings, markets, festivals, Magic Fish Dreaming book signings and workshops as I work towards my next books. I’ll read them at open readings when they are on as well. You’ll see these for the first time at the Mt Alford Artisan’s Market if you can make it to that.

Here are just a few:

“Know ye that the world is like unto a mirage which the thirsty one thinks to be water; its water is a vapor; its mercy a difficulty; its repose hardship and ordeal; leave it to its people and turn unto the Kingdom of your Lord the Merciful.”
-Abdu’l-Baha, Baha’i World Faith

“O banished and faithful friend! Quench the thirst of heedlessness with the sanctified waters of My grace, and chase the gloom of remoteness through the morning-light of My Divine presence.”
-Baha’u’llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha’u’llah
